SBG sends “best wishes” on Pacman’s bout with Spence
DESPITE the issues now hounding Sen. Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao and the other leaders of the ruling party, PDP-Laban, Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go said that he and Pres. Duterte remain supportive of the boxer in his upcoming match against undefeated welterweight champion, Errol Spence Jr.
“Actually, nagkausap kami ni Pangulong Duterte tungkol dyan. Bilang Pilipino, suportado namin si Senator Manny sa kanyang laban,” said Go during his visit to fire victims in Cainta, Rizal on Tuesday, July 6, 2021,
“Personally, gusto ko manalo si Sen. Manny sa laban. Pilipino tayo, isa pong karangalan na manalo para sa bayan, sa ating bandila. Kami po ni Pang. Duterte, suportado namin si Sen.
Manny sa kanyang laban sa susunod na buwan,” he said.
Pacquiao, PDP-Laban’s “acting president” departed for the United States last July 3, 2021, to continue his preparation against Spence, the reigning World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation (WBC/IBF) welterweight king.
Hours before his departure, however, Pacquiao called a press conference where he cited three cases of alleged corruption happening under the Duterte administration involving billions of pesos.
Pacquiao cited alleged corruption cases—yet to be investigated by the government—at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Energy (DOE).
Pacquiao had also called for the removal of DOE secretary, Alfonso Cusi, the party’s vice chairman.
However, the 8-division world champion is expected to be removed instead as PDP-Laban president when the party holds its general assembly this coming July 17, 2021.
