COA urged to probe Makabayan pork barrel
PRO-peace and pro-democracy organizations have called on the Commission on Audit (COA) to also initiate an audit performance on the congressional fund expenditures of the members of the ‘Makabayan Bloc’ in Congress.
In a statement, the ‘League of Parents of the Philippines’ (LPP) and the ‘Liga Indedependencia Pilipinas’ (LIP), said they want COA to look into, and undertake, a “minute” examination of the congressional expenses of the representatives from Bayan Muna, ACT-Teachers, Gabriela and Kabataan, the group comprising Makabayan, to find out if the money are indeed being spent for “legal projects and services.”
“Are their staffers and employees legitimate and not ‘full-time’ organizers of the CPP-NPA-NDF,” the groups asked.
Pinoy Exposé was also informed that for two days, August 25, 2021 and August 26, 2021, the groups planned to stage a morning picket at the office of the COA to press their demand for an audit of the fund disbursements of the Makabayan Bloc.
While denying they are ‘ranking officials’ of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), Makabayan lawmakers and members have steadfastly refused to denounce the CPP, the New People’s Army (NPA) and the National Democratic Front (NDF) and the many atrocities they have committed such as the cold-blooded murder of Far Eastern University (FEU) student and rising football athlete, Kieth Absalon and his uncle in Masbate last June 6, 2021.
The Absalons were targeted for murder by the NPA in Masbate for enjoining their province mates not to join the local communist movement and instead spend their time in more peaceful and productive activities.
