Philippines-China, tied by destiny

TWO years of hard campaigning by the US faction in Philippines politics to try to destroy the revitalized and rising genuine Filipino national majority represented by the Marcos-Duterte leadership today has set the course for the new stage of history for the country and the world. This is another sign of the sundown of Western hegemony in Asia and the dawn of the Asian Century with the “BRICS plus” nations.

This is by no means “the end of history” in Asia’s favor as the Western ideologues declared so boastfully as the age turned from the 20th to the 21st century, a century that began in the first decade from 2001 to 2010 when the U.S. declared a war on all emerging independent countries under the guise of the “War on Terror” and war on “The Axis of Evil” but ended up with the 2008 Great U.S. Financial Crisis, collapse and “hyper-quantitative easing” period.

The U.S. hyper-quantitative easing dragged the E.U. down with it that has led to today’s disastrous proxy war against Russia to capture Russia’S unimaginable mineral wealth, all the while the world witnessed the spectacular debut of the People’s Republic of China (PROC) on the world stage.

The U.S. begged in so many ways for China to prop up the US financial system with massive buying of U.S. debt while China rose to become the world top economy by PPP and eradicating abject poverty.

Underhandedly, the US and the West escalated its anti-China crusade with the “Pivot to Asia” and mobilization of its “deep penetration agents” who were in plain sight of everybody, the Amboys (or American Boys in the Philippines) to wage the anti-China media and “lawfare” (combat using legal aggression) with the so-called Hague arbitration panel, destabilization of smooth Philippine-China relation and finally, in 2017, the US declaring China as “near-peer competitor” and later the “trade war” under Pres. Donald Trump.

The Philippines on the other hand, captive of the U.S. Yellow “Amboy” forces since the U.S. engineered the ouster of the independent President Ferdinand Edralin Marcos, Sr. in 1986, went through 30 years of privatization, liberalization and deregulation, the emaciation of the State and the economy.

But in 2016 the wind of historical fate blew over the country and the U.S. candidates split by power-avarice, opened the gates to the national re-discovery of the genuine Filipino leader – Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

President Rodrigo R. Duterte almost single-handedly (we should also acknowledge the unsung heroes who already opposed U.S. intervention in the Philippines before him) turned the tide of U.S. and Western domination of the Philippines, and with a curse heard around the world “Sonafab…” (in Tagalog) at the act of interference of U.S. President Obama in the internal affairs of the Philippines. This ended U.S. domination of the Philippines.

The recent landslide electoral victory of the forces of an independent Philippines led by President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Jr. and VP Sara Duterte solidifies the future of the independent Republic of the Philippines, free to succeed and by its own merits, continues the 1,000 years of Philippine-China brotherhood enhanced by the elder Marcos in the 1975 establishment of diplomatic relations, re-invigorated by President Duterte and destined now to endure far into the future.

The inauguration of the new Marcos-Duterte administration and the behavior of the two  major powers contending for its good will and graces reveals a lot.

The U.S. government sent a non-entity, the second gentleman and husband of U.S. VP Kamala Harris to head the U.S. delegation. Did the U.S. diplomatic corps not realize that this would be read as a severe insult to Filipinos and its leadership? It clearly reflects the intellectual anomie and anemia of the U.S. today.

China sent the highest delegation possible, His Excellency Vice President Wang Qishan, who conveyed Chinese President Xi Jinping’s congratulatory message and four-point suggestions on bilateral relations: top leaders to direct bilateral relations, link the two countries’ development strategies, managing disputes to jointly safeguard peace in the South China Sea and adhering to international justice to promote Asia’s peaceful development and the benefits for humanity.

To me, as an observer, the suggestions have deep meanings, the first is to take command of bilateral relations and not just delegate to lower levels that may lead to imperfect results (think, Locsin);

China is ready to weave the Philippines’ economic welfare into its own strategic growth plans (which have proven to be absolutely reliable); peace and stability in the SCS will be assured; and most importantly Asia and humanity’s harmony and growth is ensured with fairness in all dealing.

In response, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. expressed his intention to elevate the country’s bilateral ties with China “to a higher level” agreeing to join hands with China “in coping with regional challenges.”
