3 top BOC lawyers, book authors, join MIBF 2022
MORE than a year after the successful publication of their sold-out book, ‘Compendium on Customs Seizure and Forfeiture Proceedings,’ three Bureau of Customs (BOC) lawyers-turned-book authors held another successful book launching last September 16, 2022, during the ‘Manila International Book Fair 2022’ at the SM Mall of Asia Convention Center in Pasay City for their second book, ‘Compendium on Customs Abandonment Proceedings’ published by Central Book Supply, which also has one of the biggest exhibition booth during the book fair.
Lawyers Ma. Lourdes Villamar Mangaoang, CSEE, Collector 5, Marlon Miranda Agaceta and Tristan Armando III Ferry Langcay, both Chief Customs Operations Officer, were joined by Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando, Central Bookstore President Paulo Sibal, Vice President Girlie Gonzales Jacala, and officials from the Professional Regulations Board of Customs Brokers, Professional Regulation Commission (PRBCB-PRC), during the book launching.
AJ Hernando, in his foreword, noted that the authors’ collective zealousness, keen efforts, and professional proficiencies in publishing their “scholarly and finely crafted legal work as truly laudable and praiseworthy,” adding he fully share in their optimism that their latest book “will truly serve as an effective tool and guide in the field of Customs Abandonment Proceedings.”
Another SC justice who reviewed the book, AJ Samuel Gaerlan, in his separate foreword noted:
“In publishing this Compendium, they (authors) have gone above and beyond their duties as officials of the BOC by offering a practical and easy guide for parties-in-interest.
“As lawyers, they have taken the initiative in keeping their brethren in the legal profession abreast of legal developments in the field of customs.
“As officers of the court, they have assisted in disseminating information to law students through a proper learning tool.
“Ultimately, their efforts in making customs laws, procedures, and practices known and accessible to everybody, one book at a time, are truly deserving of praise, respect, and admiration.”
Their first book, Compendium on Customs Seizure and Forfeiture Proceedings also had a successful launching last July 19, 2021, witnessed by then Bureau of Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero (see also Pinoy Exposé, July 26, 2021).
