Oscar De La Hoya insists he is seriously considering coming out of retirement to box again.
The 47-year-old, who won world titles in six weight classes, hung up his gloves in 2008 after he was defeated by Manny Pacquiao.
He has continued to tease a comeback over the past few years and says it could very well happen in the near future.
“I’m really considering it,” De La Hoya told The Ring.
“It doesn’t matter [who I fight]. Anybody, anybody who is the best out there. I still have that mentality. It would be at 160 [for the weight]. If it’s at 154, maybe someone coming up from 147. Any top, top, top guy at 147. It doesn’t really matter.”
Heavyweight legend Mike Tyson has also been talking up a return to the ring and De La Hoya says he is waiting to see how that plays out.
“I actually want to see what Tyson does first,” he continued.
“I have been working out, I have been training, I have been staying in shape.”
“Obviously, I’m not in fighting shape yet to go twelve rounds. I’m sure I could get there. We’ll see. I want to see Tyson perform, see how his reflexes are, see if he can go past three or four rounds. We’ll see and then I’ll make my decision.”
