Can we rely on the US to honor the MDT?

DURING the conclusion of the 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, last October 24, President Vladimir Putin added to the consternation of the West when he confirmed that, yes Joe, there are now North Korean troops inside Russia.

Putin stressed the presence of Nokor troops in Russia is not only covered by their own ‘strategic partnership agreement’ signed by the two countries during his visit to Pyongyang last June 18, 2024.

It provides for direct military aid in case one party is invaded. He added the text of their deal is never a secret and publicly available. This being the case, what the fuss is all about, he wants to know.

Significantly, with the West’ defeat in Ukraine becoming clear each day, Pres. Volodymyr Zelensky last October 25, a day after Putin confirmed the presence of Nokor troops, signed a law allowing foreign military officers to also become officers in Ukraine’s Armed Forces.

This law, known as Bill 12023, has been debated for nearly a year now at the ‘Verkhovna Rada’ (Ukraine Parliament).

This new law would now “legalize” the overwhelming presence of Western forces inside Ukraine while exposing the hypocrisy of ‘non-involvement’ of NATO troops battling Russian troops over the last two years.

But will the US truly honor its ‘ironclad commitment’ to us in case of a war with China that some in our midst appear too eager to happen? Are they as honorable as the North Koreans with respect to its treaty obligations with Russia?

But for Ukraine and NATO, how can they defend the new law when Ukraine is never a member of NATO? Remember: Ukraine’s aspiration to be part of NATO is among the causes of Russia’s incursion into Ukraine.

Of course, only a complete moron would fail to comprehend that the West’ outpouring of indignation and warning of “escalation” and “widening” of the Russo-Ukraine conflict were all grounded on lies and hypocrisy.

It is the West that has been guilty of escalation and the widening of the Russo-Ukraine war all these times, dating back to the US-funded and orchestrated 2014 ‘Maidan’ coup in Ukraine, as what Russian officials would not get tired of reminding everyone.

The Maidan coup is a continuation of the West’ betrayal of Russia when they committed in the 1990s to Mikail Gorbachev and Boris Yeltsin that NATO would not expand even “one inch” eastward, meaning, towards the border of Russia.

When actual shooting began in February 2022 and to this day, the US and its NATO minions poured in hundreds of billions of dollars in military hardware, thousands of “military specialists” and pseudo “mercenaries” into Ukraine coupled with economic sanctions. The “aim,” as American officials bragged, is to inflict a “strategic defeat” on Russia.

An initial estimate in late 2022 placed the number of foreign soldiers fighting for Ukraine at about 15,000—equal to an entire division in the US Army. This being the case, why is the West so indignant about Nokor troops in Russia when their own has been in Ukraine since 2014 at least?

And speaking of ‘mutual defense treaty,’ we have an existing one with the United States since 1951.

But will the US truly honor its ‘ironclad commitment’ to us in case of a war with China that some in our midst appear too eager to happen? Are they as honorable as the North Koreans with respect to its treaty obligations with Russia?

Are they as honorable like us when we willingly died in the US’ war of aggression against the peoples of Korea and Vietnam during the ‘50s and ‘60s?

Darn, we even defended to the death their interests in the Pacific during World War 2!

Can we not look back on America’s despicable record of abandoning “allies” and “friends” and governments it had propped up?

Remember South Vietnam? Laos? Iraq? Libya? Afghanistan? Zelensky too, is getting the same “feeling” of being “abandoned” these days!

We should be wary of America honoring the MDT when the time comes.
