2 ex-barangay chair selling drugs nabbed in Sulu
TWO former barangay chairmen were arrested by combined law enforcement operatives during a buy-bust operation in front of the Sulu Provincial Capitol Building, Bgy. Walled City, Jolo, Sulu, last November 22.
Elements from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Sulu Office, headed by IO Reaslie Calibo, assisted by forces from the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Army and NICA (National Intelligence Coordinating Agency), conducted the sting operation that led to the arrest of Tating, Sali Salim, 58, and Sherwin H. Taib, 39.
The two were nabbed while passing off 3 kilos of shabu to a poseur buyer with a street value of P2.1 million and a national average value of P20.4 million.
Salim was formerly the barangay chairman of North Manta, Siasi, Sulu, while Taib was formerly the chairman of Alu Duyong, Lugus, Sulu.
Another suspect, allegedly an incumbent barangay chairman in Laminusa Island, Siasi, managed to escape, a reliable source said.
