“WHEN it rains, it pours,” as the saying goes.
And over the way the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and its front organizations in Congress (the Makabayan Bloc) which are masquerading as “people’s organizations” are being hammered and exposed, especially in the last three months, it can be said they are just about ready to be submerged, overwhelmed and swept away by a ‘Category 5’ “typhoon” that is called “Truth.”
Versus the lies and the deceptions that the CPP has managed to impose on Filipinos for more than five decades now and which all served to make us all resigned ourselves as to the existence in our midst of their fake “armed revolutionary movement,” the truth indeed has its own way of coming out of the woodworks.
And looking back, this is what Gregoria de Jesus, the “Lakambini” of our Katipunan has warned us about—to always beware of the truth because no “secret remains hidden for long” (walang lihim na hindi nabubunyag).
And there are other historical parallels, of course.
When Adolf Hitler became German Chancellor in 1933, he vowed that his Third Reich would last a thousand years; it lasted for a mere 12 years.
The Soviet Union, the world’s “first socialist state” and which inspired all communist-led “revolutionary movements” from Africa, Europe, the Western Hemisphere and down to Asia, only lasted 73 years, from 1918, when Lenin overthrew Tsarism, until 1991, with the miserable collapse of the coup against Mikael Gorbachev.
Both these regimes, of course, were founded on the basis of lies and violence committed against their own peoples— the Nazis were infamous for their “reeducation” and “concentration” camps and the Soviets, for their “Gulags.”
And if there is any important lesson to be learned over the above narrative, it is this: anything—government, “movement,” etc.—founded on lies, deceits and violence, cannot last. They cannot last simply because the “consent” of the people is not freely given.
In the case of the CPP, this is already what we are witnessing: the “beginning of the end” for its “movement” founded on the very same foundations as that of the Nazis and the Soviet Union—lies, deceits and violence.
Stated differently, the observation of one of the former CPP cadre, Noel ‘Ka Efren’ Legaspi, is worth pondering.
After realizing that he has already spent 26 years in the CPP’s armed struggle but nothing has come out of it, he came to the conclusion that this armed struggle simply cannot win because it “does not have the support of the people.”
And in hindsight too, the CPP has no one to blame over its current woes but itself.
Are not its front organizations the ones who created this fiction of ‘red-tagging’ to put the government on the defensive?
Well, it is their incessant noise-making that prompted the Senate to call a probe on the issue.
And on its only third hearing last week, it was found out that their lies and deceptions cannot stand scrutiny.
