US Imperialism and its Western stooges also known as NATO—North Atlantic Treaty Organization—continue to play their worn-out trick of using a ‘bogeyman’ to justify their aggression everywhere for profit and hegemony.
But this time, it is at the risk of pushing the entire world towards World War 3, as their proxy war against Russia careened towards defeat in Ukraine.
Right after World War 2 and the years of the Cold War, “combating the evils of communism” was the bogeyman used by the West to justify their aggression against poor countries merely struggling to be free from Western colonial rule and exploitation and live in peace afterwards.
“Democracy,” like it or not, was also imposed among the natives in place of their local socio-political system that has been working just fine before Western incursion.
To bring Communism to heel, the West tried to mold the rest of the world ‘into their own image’ oftentimes at the point of a bayonet and with tragic consequences.
With the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, more aggression to corner the world’s critical resources was justified as a “War on Terror.”
In the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, the US and NATO are hyping up the bogey of North Korean troops inside Russia, claiming this is an “escalation” of a war that they themselves provoked.
It is typical Western hypocrisy to accuse Russia of “escalation” when it allowed Nokor troops inside its territory. But heck, Russia’s military pact with North Korea calls for military support when any of the contracting party finds itself under attack by a third party. What is wrong with that?
We Filipinos object to the presence of US troops on our soil but given our 1951 defense treaty with the United States, it is a bitter fact of life that we had to accept—along with its tragic consequences when war arrives on our shores.
On the other hand, Ukraine is not a member of NATO, a glaring fact that must not be forgotten. Thus, it is NATO’s military presence and material support for Ukraine against Russia that is escalatory in nature. It is armed intervention in a war pitting two Slavic countries.
However, the now docile Western MSM, in subservience to their governments, daily feed us with lies that it is Russia that is escalating the conflict when it complied with the terms of its military pact with North Korea.
And as their hope of inflicting a “strategic defeat” against Russia turned to despair in the battlefields of Ukraine, they resorted to further escalation by approving only this week Ukraine’s use of NATO’s long-range missiles (ATACMS, Storm Shadow) against Russia “because of North Korea.”
This is not much unlike the US justifying its newly opened military base in Poland, near the border with Russia as countering the threat posed by, guess who? Iran.
But who is the West fooling now except its own citizens? They would surely revolt to realize they are being led to slaughter in a new war but for their being dumbed down by their own media and the excessive censorship of the truth by their own governments.
Now that the war in Ukraine has taken on a “global character,” as Russian President Vladimir Putin informed the Russian people last November 21, we can be sure the US and NATO would even escalate their production of new ‘bogeymen’ to justify our descent to global catastrophe.
