Who are the US minions at the DFA fooling?

REACTING heatedly to a column piece by Dr. Mario Ferdinand Pasion at The Manila Times last Sunday, June 12, 2022, incidentally, the country’s ‘National Independence Day,’ the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), claimed it is “not beholden to any foreign entity.’ That article basically accused the DFA of filing diplomatic protests against China at the behest of the US State Department.

The allegation may be “below the belt,” insofar as the hypocrites over there at the DFA, headed by its secretary, Teodoro ‘Teddy Boy’ Locsin, are concerned, thus their indignation.

But to flatly state that the DFA is not beholden to US Imperialism is what it is: a flat out lie.

For how many times have we seen the DFA and Locsin directly contradicting, nay, even ignoring, Pres. Duterte’s independent foreign policy?

At the outbreak of Russia’s special military operations in Eastern Ukraine, did not Pres. Duterte said we should stay neutral as it is of no concern to us?

But what did the DFA do? It voted, along with other US minions, to condemn Russia. Too, it lobbied very, very hard, along with other US stooges at our defense department, for the continuation of the EDCA, when it was at the brink of being abrogated by Pres. Duterte in 2016, forcing him to back off eventually.

Locsin was also the only ASEAN foreign minister to support the AUKUS (Australia, United Kingdom, United States) military alliance that is seeking a war against China using the contested claims in the South China Sea as a pretext.

During the ASEAN-US Summit called by US Imperialism last month of May, Locsin, contrary to Pres. Duterte’s own decision not to attend the summit, went ahead on his own volition and represented the country in a gathering that is clearly another attempt by Washington to isolate China.

And yes, our very own ‘West Philippine Sea’ has become a regular route for US warships since time immemorial to include its other military lackeys like Australia, the UK, Japan, etcetera. How many times did the DFA protest over these violations of our sovereignty? None, one would suppose.

We also recall that in 2020, US spy planes breaking into China’s airspace blatantly used Philippine civilian aviation codes in a vain attempt to hide their spying missions.

Did the DFA protest that deliberate deception and provocation by US Imperialism that could have resulted in a mistaken war between the Philippines and China? No, it did not.

The list of American abuses and deception against Filipinos and the Philippines dates back to its invasion and forced conquest of our country in 1898.

And yet, when it comes to them, the DFA are like the 3 Monkeys of old—it sees nothing, hears nothing and says nothing.

Thus, we say to the DFA: Stop with your hypocrisy. You are only fooling yourselves but never the growing number of Filipinos who are now aware of what the DFA really is: an ‘extension’ of the US State Department.
