THE Peoples’ Republic of China’s patience over the bullying of the United States for its close partnership with Russia despite the conflict in Ukraine seemed to have snapped with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) giving out a mouthful to America, bluntly telling that it is the United States that has been “fanning the flame and fueling the fight with more weaponry.”
“To date, it has provided Ukraine with over $32 billion worth of military aid, including large quantities of advanced armament.
“Just days ago, the US announced yet another tranche of military aid for Ukraine worth $2 billion.
“The US has been pouring weapons into one side of the conflict, thus prolonging the fight and making peace elusive, while spreading disinformation that China would supply weapons to Russia and sanctioning Chinese companies under that pretext.
“This is out-and-out hegemonism and double standard, and absolute hypocrisy,” said MFA spokesperson Mao Ning during the ministry’s regular press conference last February 27, 2023.
Mao was referring to the claim of US State Secretary Anthony Blinken, that China is considering sending “lethal aid” to Russia over its ongoing military operations in Eastern Ukraine.
Without offering any proof, Blinken made the disclosure ahead of his meeting with China’s top diplomat, Wang Yi, at the Munich Security Conference that was held from February 17 to February 19, 2023.
In a riposte to Blinken’s claim another MFA spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, on February 20, bluntly stated that it is the United States that is pouring lethal arms in the Ukraine conflict.
“It is the US, not China, that has been pouring weapons into the battlefield.
“The US is in no position to tell China what to do.
“We would never stand for finger-pointing, or even coercion and pressurizing from the US on our relations with Russia,” Wang said.
The MFA said China is also supporting the growing international call for an investigation into the blowing up of the Nord Stream pipelines last September 24, 2022.
An exclusive report by respected international investigative journalist, Seymour Hersh, released last February 8, 2023, said it was the United States, with the help of Norway and direct approval by Pres. Joe Biden, that blew up the pipelines (see also Pinoy Exposé, February 20, 2023).
The United States merely dismiss the claim as “complete fiction.”
Responding to the proposal on February 24, Wang said China believes the probe would be more credible under the auspices of the Security Council of the United Nations as the investigations of the terrorist act made by Denmark, Germany and Sweden lack credibility.
“Some people also commented that the so-called national investigations conducted by NATO countries are no different from asking a person to probe into himself, which would naturally lack credibility for the world,” Wang stressed.
“China supports the UN, as the most authoritative and representative international organization, in playing an active and constructive role in conducting an international investigation and ensuring the safety of transboundary infrastructure.
“And we support the Security Council in holding discussions about it.
“We urge the US to give credible explanations as soon as possible for the revelation that the US was behind the Nord Stream blast, and credibly respond to the questions and concerns in the international community,” Wang said.
