TERRORIST attacks by Ukraine Neo-Nazis inside Russia and a murder attempt against President Vladimir Putin using drones 5 days earlier (see Pinoy Exposé, May 4, 2023), failed to damp the spirit of Russians as they celebrated the 78th commemoration of their victory against Nazi Germany at the Red Square in Moscow last May 9, 2023.
In his speech, Putin, known for his frankness—to the irritation of Western leaders—made it clear that “a real war” has been unleashed again by the West against Russia thru their proxy war in Ukraine.
The May 9 ‘Victory Day’ has always been a national holiday in Russia marked by a military parade showcasing many of the country’s modern armaments and attended by world leaders. This year’s event, however, was much subdued due to security concerns with only one ‘T-34’ tank— which proved far superior against the Wehrmacht’s ‘Panzers’ during World War 2—leading the parade.
On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a pre-emptive strike against Ukraine whose fascists troops, armed, trained and supported by the West and the United States for the past 8 years, are gearing to pounce against the residents of the Donbass region east of the country that borders Russia.
The mainly Russian-speaking population were supposed to be granted autonomy based on the result of a referendum in 2014 but were instead subjected to intense shelling and acts of barbarity by the regime in Kyiv even before President Volodymir Zelensky became president in 2019.
The referendum, which was held in May 2014, came on the heels of a US-sponsored “color revolution” in Ukraine that toppled the elected government of Pres. Victor Yanukovych early in the year. The successful coup saw the rise to power of the neo-Nazis, the West’s proxy regime against Russia.
Thousands in the Donbass have been killed since 2014 as the residents continue to appeal to Russia for help that finally came after Russia decided to launch its ‘SMO’ (special military operation) to “de-Nazify” Ukraine and bring lasting peace to the Donbass.
The SMO has now run for more than a year with the prospect of peace still unclear as the West forbade Zelensky from entering into a peace talk with Russia unless they dictate the terms.
Against this backdrop, Putin reminded Russian troops fighting in Ukraine that the “security” and “future” of the country depend on them.
“Today, the security of the country rests on you, the future of our statehood and our people depend on you. You are honorable you are fulfilling your military duty, fighting for Russia,” the Russian leader said.
Putin also lambasted the “Western globalist elites” for their “ideology of superiority” that he said is “inherently repugnant, criminal, and deadly.”
“We believe that any ideology of superiority is inherently repugnant, criminal, and deadly.
“However, the Western globalist elites are still talking about their exclusivity, pit people against each other and split societies, provoke bloody conflicts and coups, sow hatred, Russophobia, aggressive nationalism, destroy and family, traditional values that make a person human… they continue to dictate, to impose their will, their rights on the peoples, rules… (they created) a system of robbery, violence and suppression.”
“We believe that any ideology of superiority is inherently repugnant, criminal, and deadly.”– Russian President Vladimir Putin
He also accused the West of forgetting who bore the brunt of the fighting against Nazi Germany.
“They have forgotten what the Nazis’ insane claims to world domination have led to. They have forgotten who defeated this monstrous, total evil, who stood up as a wall for their native land and did not (hesitate to) spare their lives for the liberation of the peoples of Europe.”
He also reminded the crowd of the West’s real goal of dismembering Russia and other countries showing independence from the West.
“Their goal, and there is nothing new here, is to bring about the disintegration and destruction of our countries, to cross out the results of the Second World War, to finally break the system of global security and international law, strangle any sovereign development centers,” Putin stressed.
Missile strikes spoils Ukraine counter-offensive; radiation fear spread in Ukraine
Meanwhile Russia spoiled the much ballyhooed ‘counter offensive’ by Ukraine by raining missiles at a huge ammunition depot near the city of Khmelnytsky in west Ukraine last Saturday, May 13, 2023.
While the Western corporate media claimed the explosions that followed was due to Russian ‘Kamikaze drones’ that managed to pass thru Ukraine air defenses, more credible sources said the strike was carried out by Russian cruise missiles, most likely the ‘Kinzhal’ of which the West has no means of defense until now.
From various reports and photos in the Internet, the explosion totally obliterated the entire depot that was also suspected to contain ‘DU’ (depleted uranium) ammunitions supplied by the United Kingdom to be used against Russian tanks and armor.
Russia had repeatedly warned Britain that its decision to supply DU ammos to Ukraine is a “dangerous escalation” of the conflict and would force Russia to react accordingly.
The strike at Khmelnytsky is expected to hobble further the much-touted Ukraine counter offensive against the Russian Army as the depot contain much of the West-supplied weapons to Ukraine, with some estimates placing the value of the destroyed war materiel at more than $500 million.
The missile strike also proved the lie that Russia has run out of missiles and that the West-supplied air defense (AD) systems such as the US-made ‘Patriots’ can protect Ukraine.
A reported increase in gamma ray radiation in the area has also sowed fear even among Ukrainians due to the possible spread of radiation and contamination.
While the West has insisted that DUs are ‘safe,’ there have been incontrovertible proof that its used has led to an increase in birth defects and radiation-related sickness like cancer in Iraq and the former Yugoslavia, places where they were extensively used by NATO forces during their invasion.
