THE United States of America, with the help of Norway, planned and executed the undersea bombing of the ‘Nord Stream’ gas pipelines in September 2022, in order to tighten its grip on the economy of Germany and Western Europe while also further cutting any basis of future cooperation between them and Russia.
In an exclusive report released last February 8, 2023, that has now turned to be a major global news event– and which continues to draw rage everywhere against America’s deliberate act of war against its own European allies– Pulitzer Prize winner, Seymour Hersh, said an elite unit of the US Navy based in Panama City, with the active support of the Royal Norwegian Navy—and therefore its government– planted powerful, time-controlled, C4 explosives on the pipelines 260 feet below the sea off Bornholm Island in Denmark between June 5 to June 17, 2022, using the annual ‘Baltic Operations 22’ (BALTOPS22) military exercise as a cover.
Ironically, BALTOPS 22, which was held in the Baltic Sea, was participated in by 14 countries that include both the aggressor countries, America and Norway, and their victims such as Germany, France, Poland, and the United Kingdom, among others.
In this military exercise that was aimed at sending a strong warning to Russia, most of the participants are unaware that America and Norway have plotted to stab them in the back.
Based on Hersh’s report, titled, ‘How America took out the Nord Stream Pipeline’ (see link here), the US has been plotting to take out Nord Stream as far back as 2021, with the actual planning happening in December 2021, some 2 months before Russia launched its pre-emptive (special military operation) strike in Ukraine.
The issue of cheap Russian gas has always been a “concern” by the US and its anti-Russia puppets in NATO.
The US has always been fearful that more cheap Russian gas flowing into Europe would hold back Germany and Europe into fully supporting US policy and accepting its hegemony while not giving full support to Ukraine once the clash with Russia starts.
The bombs were specially designed to explode once US President Joe Biden decided to act and which he did when the pipelines suddenly exploded on September 26, 2022, some 3 months after they were planted by US Navy divers.
As a result, the 4 pipelines of Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 were severely damaged, rendering them useless.
With it, the US succeeded in preventing Russian President Vladimir Putin from ‘weaponizing’ its gas supply to Europe as the conflict in Ukraine rages.
More importantly, the situation brought immense profit to Norway and the US who are now the main gas supplier to Western Europe at a price more than double what they used to pay to Russia, thus ensuring America’s stranglehold on Europe’s economy.
No ‘ordinary’ journalist
Hersh won the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting in 1970 over a series of reports he filed as a freelancer regarding the ‘My Lai Massacre’ 2 years earlier and its subsequent coverup by the US government.
Hersh was able to establish that on March 16, 1968, composite members of the US Army’s Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment, Bravo Company, 4th Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiments as well as elements from the 11th Brigade, 23rd Infantry Division, massacred the villagers of My Lai, Son Tinh District, Quang Ngai province, South Vietnam, resulting to the wanton murder of 300 to 500 Vietnamese civilians—men, women and child– in one of the most barbaric episodes of the Vietnam War committed by the United States.
Prior to this, ‘Wikipedia’ also disclosed that Hersh’s stories regarding America’s chemical and biological warfare program during the 60s resulted to the publication of his first book, ‘Chemical and Biological Warfare: America’s Hidden Arsenal’ published in 1968.
Early in the year, Hersh also exposed the US military’s testing of the deadly ‘VX nerve agent’ (first developed by Germany during World War 2), that led to Pres. Richard Nixon announcing America’s decision to stop all biological warfare programs the following year.
Hersh also reported in 1986 that Panamian dictator Manuel Noriega’s involvement in arms and drug trafficking was being tolerated by the United States (in 1989, having found him already a liability, the US threw out and jailed Noriega).
Prior to the US invasion of Iraq in 2003, Hersh had already provided evidence that there is no basis for the US claim that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein is stockpiling ‘weapons of mass destruction,’ the official lie that justified the US invasion and destruction of that country.
The following year, it was also Hersh who exposed, thru a series of articles at ‘The New Yorker,’ the US’ use of torture and its troops’ commission of other acts of gross human rights violations against Arab and Muslim prisoners inside the ‘Abu Ghraib’ prison in Iraq, a report that has become another international scandal for America.
Germany, EU, silent over US aggression
At the session of the European Parliament last February 13, 2023, 5 days after Hersch’s report came out, MP Clare Daly blasted European governments for their continued silence and display of meekness in the face of US aggression and act of war.
“Since September (2022), the lack of interest (by European governments) in finding answers to who was behind the Nord Stream explosion has been frankly astounding.
“This was an act of sabotage, an act of unrivaled vandalism, economically and environmentally and not a word, no discussion, no question,” she noted.
Referring to Hersh as the world’s “most acclaimed and distinguished living investigative journalist” and as a “man who doesn’t make claims lightly,” Daly expressed disgust that despite Hersh’s report, she finds the EU government’s silence as “jaw dropping.”
“I find it jaw dropping that the EU is not asking questions as to who is responsible for sabotaging the livelihood of our citizens,” Daly said further.
She added the deafening silence of European capitals over the incident made her “ashamed” of being a European.
