2 ‘Ecstasy’ claimants arrested

THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of NAIA, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), and the NAIA Inter-agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG), arrested two persons who tried to claim a shipment of illegal drugs worth more than P9.6 million at the Quezon City Postal Office, during another successful ‘controlled delivery operation.’

In a statement, the BOC said the arrest was made on Monday, July 12, 2021, after the suspects, who are yet to be named, showed up to claim possession of the party drug, ‘Ecstasy,’ totaling 5,637 tablets that were concealed inside a ‘Foot Spa Machine.’

BOC records also show the shipment arrived last June 28, 2021, from Neuss, Germany, and was declared as “Children’s Toys, Somer Sandals, Bag, Socks, Pants, Rain Boots, and Birthday Stock.”

Unknown to the suspects, the IADITG had already conducted an x-ray examination that resulted to the discovery of the illegal drugs.

The authorities then forwarded the parcel to the Quezon City Postal Office and laid a plan to catch the suspects.
