Franchise renewal for IBC-13

SENATOR Raffy T. Tulfo supports the renewal of the Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation or IBC 13 franchise for another 25 years.

During Monday’s plenary session, December 9, 2024, Tulfo, sponsor of House Bill No. 6505 or an act renewing for another 25 years the franchise granted to Intercontinental Broadcasting Corporation, said supporting the bill is tantamount to supporting the people of their right to information.

“To pave the way for privatization, we need to extend the life of IBC 13. A new franchise will give the IBC 13 enough time to increase its book value, make the company more profitable, expand and upgrade its operations with the end goal of making it more financially attractive to private investors,” Tulfo said.

“Despite several challenges that the IBC 13 faced from the time it started its journey up to the present, it continues to deliver public service to the people. Even after several reorganizations, the public service continues, and we believe that this service needs to be sustained for the coming years,” he added (Senate Public Relations and Information Bureau).
