PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) Chief, P/General Guillermo Lorenzo Tolentino Eleazar said that the filing of a homicide complaint against 10 Laguna policemen who joined an anti-illegal drug operation where a teenager was killed is “proof” that the PNP does not set aside accusations of abuse or irregularity against its personnel.
“This is proof that the PNP will not shield its personnel. Kung may akusasyon, imbestigahan at sampahan ng kaso kung kinakailangan. I have repeatedly said that I will not tolerate police abuse in the organization,” Eleazar said.
The Calabarzon Police Office headed by P/BGen Eliseo DC Cruz, bared that the Fact-finding Investigation Task Group that he formed filed last July 5, 2021, a case of homicide against 10 police personnel from he Laguna Police Provincial Office (LPPO) before the City Prosecutor of Biñan City over the death of 16-year-old Johndy Helis Maglinte in a police operation last June 16, 2021.
Maglinte and drug suspect Antonio Dalit, the subject of the police operation, were killed when they allegedly resisted arrest.
Included in the charge sheet is P/Capt. Fernando Credo, head of the LPPO Intelligence Branch.
Eleazar also urged the family and the public to now allow the City Prosecutor to decide on the complaint.
“For now, hayaan nating gumulong ang kaso ng mga pulis na kinasuhan at hintayin natin ang magiging resolution nito.
“Let us allow the City Prosecutor to appreciate the submitted evidence and facts of the incident,” the PNP Chief said.
