THE National Press Club of the Philippines (NPC), the country’s biggest organization of active members of the press, has cited Bureau of Customs assistant commissioner and spokesman, Atty. Vincent Maronilla, for the indispensable help the official extended to the Club, especially during the nationwide lockdown ordered by the government to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Part of the citation reads:
“In gratitude of his immediate response to the call by the Club for help and assistance to the members of the press severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, thereby helping mitigate the hardships they faced, especially during the 3-month lockdown (March to May) imposed by the government to prevent the spread of the pandemic.”
The Club also lauded the “open and transparent manner” in his dealings with the members of the press as bureau spokesman, “thereby earning their trust and confidence while also effectively communicating the many policies and programs of the Bureau that have an impact on its many stakeholders.”
The award to Maronilla was given by the Club last October 29, 2020, on the occasion of its 68TH anniversary celebration and was signed by Club secretrary, Lydia Bueno and Club president, Paul M. Gutierrez.
