PORT of Davao district collector, Atty. Erastus Sandino ‘Dino’ Austria, announced the port’s successful passing of the second stage of its ‘Internal Quality Audit’ (IQA) last September 9, 2021, paving the way for the collection district being granted an ISO 9001:2015 certification.
Austria, a former spokesman of the BOC, assured that “all audit findings will be complied within the prescribed period” given by the ‘Interim Internal Quality Management System Office’ (IIQMSO) of the Bureau of Customs headed by the retired M/Gen. Leandro Loyao III.
The Port of Davao, under Austria, is aiming to become the first ISO-certified customs office in Mindanao.
In a related development, the Sub-Port of Dumaguete, which is under the Port of Cebu, said it has managed to maintain its ISO certification, after “breezing through” the surveillance audit conducted by ‘TüvSüd Management Service’ last September 3, 2021.
Dumagute is the first BOC subport to obtain an ISO certification.
At the end of the Audit, TüvSüd’s Lead Auditor, Xavier Lance Dy, concluded that the Subport has maintained the ISO standards after a year of implementation of quality systems.
Dumaguete Subport Collector Fe Lluelyn G. Toring thanked Comm. Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, Deputy Commissioner Donato B. San Juan, the Interim Internal Quality Management System Office (IIIQMSO) led by MGen. Leandro A. Loyao III, and, Port of Cebu District Collector Charlito Martin R. Mendoza, for their consistent support that she said “inspired” them “to strive for continued excellence in the delivery of services to our stakeholders.”
Earlier this year, the Subport of Mactan also obtained the same ISO Certification while the Port of Cebu’s Customer Care Center (CCC) is now preparing for the second stage of Internal Quality Audit to prequalify for ISO Certification.
