THE Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA-IADITG) last October 3, 2023, announced the arrest of an unidentified Malaysian national while trying to smuggle in 3.722 kilos of shabu worth P25.309 million.
NAIA district collector, Atty. Yasmin Mapa, in her report to Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, said the passenger went through the rigorous route of travelling from Madagascar via Addis Ababa on board Ethiopian Airlines Flight ET 644.
The arrested passenger will be prosecuted for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as The Comprehensive Drug Act, and Republic Act No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA), Mapa said.
It can be recalled that last September 28, 2023, two unnamed female Singaporean nationals were also arrested at the NAIA for trying to bring in 43.6 kilos of cocaine worth more than P76 million.
The suspects also went through the rigorous route of boarding their flight from Doha, Qatar but were promptly arrested on their arrival at NAIA Terminal 3 (see link here).
