THE Drug Enforcement Group of the Philippine National Police (PDEG) continues with its unrelenting campaign against illegal drugs, seizing a total of 8 kilos of shabu in two days of operation that also resulted to the arrest of 3 suspects.
P/BGen. Remus Medina, in a report to PNP Chief P/Gen. Dionardo Carlos, said their latest “buy-bust” operation together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) last January 26, 2022 at No. 3628 Hilario St., Palanan, Makati City, resulted to the arrest of Bryan Salceda, 26, married, construction worker, a resident of Concepcion, Pasay City and, Jerome Gaje, 27, single, unemployed and a resident of Estrella St., also in Pasay City.
He said the suspects yielded 6 kilos of shabu wrapped in Chinese tea packs valued at P40.8 million.
The familiar green and yellow-gold color Chinese tea packs containing shabu is the standard packaging of the ‘Sam Gor Drug Syndicate,’ the world’s biggest producer of “crystal meth” commonly known as shabu, a clear indication the syndicate is now firmly entrenched in the country.
In a separate buy-bust operation with the PDEA a day before in Caloocan City, Medina said they confiscated another 2 kilos of shabu worth P13. 6 million from suspect, Janesa Cabardo Canoy a.k.a Jane, 25, and a resident of 295 Sandico Street, Tondo, Manila.
Canoy was arrested while passing off the illegal drugs to a poseur-buyer during the transaction that took place along Langit Road corner Crusher Street, Phase 9, Package 7C, Bagong Silang, Caloocan City.
Earlier news reports about the twin accomplishments claimed they are related. Medina, however, in a message to Pinoy Exposé, stressed the two are separate and distinct operations.
The seizures and arrests have brought to 25 kilos the volume of illegal drugs seized by the PDEG following another successful operation in Mexico, Pampanga, last December 29, 2021.
In a report to Medina by elements from the Special Operations Unit (SOU) headed by P/Lt. Colonel Arnulfo Ibañez, they seized a total of 17 kilos of shabu worth P115.6 million from suspect Muslimin Mohamad Salim, during another buy-bust operation in Lagundi Mexico.
Salim, 29, married and a resident of Roldan Street, Lower Bicutan, Taguig City, was nabbed after handing over the illegal drugs packed in 50 plastic bags.
