Payback time at the ‘G7’

IN OUR article previous to this we explained cited the many cases of how the U.S. spied, betrayed and ultimately drop allies like hot potatoes when keeping them become too burdensome and painful for the folks back in mainland USA. We cited what Ukraine now feels as the U.S. concedes the Germany-Russia Nord Stream 2 deal laving Ukraine with no gas in the future.

We cite many other historical cases where the U.S. drops its allies completely leaving refugees to the mercy of the enemy of the US as in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos where millions of US local “friends” had to flee for their lives out of their homelands.

The latest of course is Afghanistan where the U.S. is leaving in defeat after 20 years and their Afghans local hires are now desperate to escape the Talibans.

We will recall one more among many we cited of an instance of US treachery on its allies: that of the US spying on Germany and other EU countries and their leaders using other EU allies. But US teachery on allies eventually arrives at the point when payback for the betrayal of trust and confidence becomes retaliation against America and we can see it clearly at the recent G7 Summit in England.

The US, under President Joe Biden, is intent on escalating its aggressive competition with China and today, in most critical need of cooperation and collaboration from its EU allies. find its demands politely rejected by the most critical countries of the EU, Germany and France, which have declined to jump on Biden’s and the US’ war wagons seeking to charge headlong against China.

Defying the US, EU leaders softened the 25-page G7 final communique on the issues Biden wanted to push against China. China was downplayed, mentioned only 4 times.

Hong Kong mentioned once and, likewise, Xinjiang; Taiwan mentioned only in reference and Tibet was absent. Official Chinese statements expectedly denounced it, but some unofficial views saw the communique as a victory.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel sought balance in the G7 against US agitation for aggressive tones against China saying, “… we also have cooperative ties (with China) on many issues. I would like to mention, for example, climate issues and issues of biodiversity, but also free trade…” French President Emmanuel Macron said that the summit was “not a club hostile to China” and wants “to work with China on all global issues”.

The growing EU independence from US diktats may merely be an offshoot of the decline of US power, but the timing of the recent revival of the US spying issue which went on over the past decade indicate that it is likely a payback for US abuse of its EU allies.

It’s a very important shift that hints at the likely resumption of the strategic EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (CAI).

EU recalcitrance to be a helpless appendage of US policy has tremendous strategic import. The world is presently hostage to the US efforts of “decoupling” the West from China, but an independent Europe would negate that decoupling and instead of a split Internet Age world or “splinternet” we might see a “tri-plintered” global economy which is still good for China and disastrous for the US.

With such a “tri-plintered” world, the U.S. dream of restoring its sole leadership in the globe under Biden’s “America is back” will be in vain.

And that’s the best thing that can happen to mankind with the principles of multilateralism and the multi-polar world inching closer to being a global reality. Biden’s failure to rally the West to the US battle-cry against China is a signal event in 21st century history.

In Asia, the classic payback time to US abuse of an “ally” can be found in the Philippines as President Rodrigo R. Duterte is making the US wriggle excruciatingly for the final go-or-no-go to the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA);  Pres. Biden had to write Duterte in late May (reported in media on June 1st) stating that he (Biden) was “hopeful” that Duterte would extend the VFA with the US.

Duterte finally announced two weeks later and for the third time, the VFA’s six-month extension.

Seeing an American president beseech a Philippine president is a sight to behold. This is what the US gets for frequently adding insult to injury, including denial of arms delivery during the Marawi terror crisis and the cancellation of a senator’s visa for alleged human rights violation, but now it’s payback time now.

For all its decades of abuse of friends and foes in the world, the US is finally getting the just payback; instead of “America First” what it finds itself in now is “America Alone.”

Kudos to the EU and even more kudos to us in Asia, particularly the Philippines.

Now, with the US put in its place the rest of the world can truly begin the real “Build Back Better” Peace and Goodwill on Earth and To All Mankind.
