IT HAS been 22 days since the Russian military intervention to protect the two Eastern Ukraine provinces of Luhansk and Donetsk, targets of the encirclement of several armies of Western Ukraine and achieve the “neutralization” and “de-Nazification” of Ukraine as a whole.
Western propaganda said the offensive would fizzle out in the first week; today, Russia is ready to demolish and occupy Kiev if it wishes to.
ASEAN may not suffer the Ukrainian disaster since in all its collective wisdom it has, as a group of ten nations, together signed the ‘ZOPFAN Treaty’ or’ Zone of Peace, Freedom and Neutrality,’ which is self-explanatory, as well as the Southeast Asia Nuclear Weapons-Free Zone (SEANWFZ). Hence the group can expect not to see itself in the situation of Ukraine torn apart by the tug-of-war between two superpowers – the U.S. and Russia– with NATO trembling behind it.
The only country in ASEAN that is having a difficulty learning any lesson because its political elite is hard-of-hearing and intellectually-retarded due to an affliction with the disease of colonial mentality and mendicancy is the Philippines.
Even with an Independent Foreign Policy in practice and a ban on foreign troops on our soil, we still allow US troops inside our military bases (an unavoidable magnet for retaliation in case of a war here in Asia) and we also tolerate the ‘Americano-philes’ in our political and military bureaucracy.
Of the implanted Americano-philes, the Amboys as they are traditionally known, or the newest name, Americano-Manchurian candidates or ‘Amchurian’ for short, they have been for the past many decades doing the bidding of the U.S. in the Philippine government bureaucracy, financial sector, the academe, the media and the religious institutions.
The Philippines has not weeded them out of positions of power – still a particular deficiency in the governance of the present dispensation.
Secondly, these same Amboys in the academe and the boardrooms of Philippine mainstream media as well as in the editorial boards, the prevalence of these infestation is evident for example in the news I was assaulted by in this headline:
“China WPS bullying persists – Lorenzana” with the classic insertion and accentuation of inflammatory exaggerations designed by the news feeder to build up long-term hate effect as we see in Ukraine of what actually is a normal maritime and diplomatic occurrence.
Although significantly waning in the Philippines the past two years and still to subside in the coming years, this “hate-effect” generated through various means is a key element in the build-up of war scenarios that the US war machine, now more broadly called techno-military-industrial-congressional-academic-think tank complex of the United States of America that uses “proxies” such as Ukraine in Eastern Europe and here in Asia the Philippines.
The US funds massively the manufacture of hate; the US Congress recently approved $500-million additional budget for negative China news coverage and projection (see this link: https://www.helsinkitimes.fi/china-news/21091-a-500-million-dollar-business-america-s-state-sponsored-anti-china-propaganda.html ). This is just a small version of the $5-Billion the US spent for the 2014 Maiden regime change and billions more since to prime Ukraine for this war with Russia.
The US-Ukraine anti-Russia strategic poking to provoke the ‘Russian Bear’ has elicited a gigantic backlash as the BRICS + (plus) countries constituting 70 percent of the global economy has recoiled from the US triggered war and America’s cowardice to fight Russia– to the last drop of blood of the Ukrainians.
Brazil, India, China, South Africa, and BRICS applicant countries and regions such as Pakistan, Central Asian States, 27 African countries, Latin American socialist countries, refused to join the US call to condemn Russia.
Philippine President Rodrigo R. Duterte has splendidly deconstructed the policy of subservience and mendicancy to the US and steered the country clear of proxying for the US in hate and conflict manufacturing.
But that cannot be said of some of his Cabinet members, some of whom have regularly countermanded his foreign policy vision of sovereignty and independence.
We have seen this twice in just the past two months when DFA Secretary Teddy Locsin contradicted Duterte’s neutrality on Ukraine while Babe Romualdez, our US ambassador, put words into Duterte’s mouth on “opening the Philippines for US use in case the war in Ukraine spills over (to Asia).”
In other countries the two appointees of the President would have been immediately fired, but here they have stayed on for years.
Lastly, of the Amchucurian candidates, we have watched and heard them speak with canine devotion to America’s political line: Leni, Lacson, Isko and a few others yapping up and sounding really like puppies, saying “We will invite the US to patrol the WPS” (West Philippine Sea).
They are like Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky railing against Russia while crying abandonment by the US when conflict with Russia erupted.
It seems that only BBM (Bongbong Marcos) and Leody de Guyzman, the ‘workers’ candidate,’ are the only truly independent candidates – learning from the lesson that we never again should be proxy for the US.
Note: Over the controversial news last March 17, 2022, from Business Mirror headlined, “China WPS bullying persists – Lorenzana,” I was reliably informed that Lorenzana reacted, and I quote: “Salsal ito” (this is exaggerated news).
Another example of an advertorial. Lorenzana promised to call the attention of the EU ambassadors present when they had a recent talk– in confidence—but who were obviously fishing for controversy and ‘re-angled’ the conversation to fit Western agenda.
Business Mirror Editor-in-Chief Ma. Lourdes Fernandez, I call your attention to this.
