Citizens Crime Watch gears up for revitalization
50 wheelchairs given away Batalla Cares Foundation to deserving recipients
THE Citizens Crime Watch (CCW), one of the country’s leading anti-crime and anti-corruption civic organization, vows to revitalize its operation and commitment to public service with the holding of its General Assembly last April 8, 2025.
Fittingly, the occasion was held in the town of Malvar, namesake of CCW founder, Atty. Jose Malvar Villegas Jr., who died last October 31, 2021. Villegas was the grandson of revolutionary hero, General Miguel Malvar.
Elected to the new 15-members CCW Board of Directors are: Atty. Virgilio Batalla, Gerardo America, Eduardo Dalisay, Wilfredo M. Afan, Jr., Vicente Carlos C. Llamas VI, Paul M. Gutierrez, Cicero D. Lumauig, Datu Janalodin T. Guiling, Vanessa T. Lazaro, Julie M. America, Manuel Ramos, Juanito Y. Tionloc, Ma. Rizelle S. Luna, Erick S. Ablaza, and Joseph Y. Luna
Batalla is also elected as CCW chairman with Gerardo America as president. Dalisay retains his post as Vice President.
As part of its revitalization effort, Batalla released a statement on April 10, condemning the kidnap-slaying of Fil-Chinese businessman, Anson Que and his driver whose bodies were found dumped in Rodriguez, Rizal on April 9 (see related story).
“Rest assured that in the coming days, the CCW, in partnership with concerned government agencies and like-minded civic groups, would once again be in the forefront in our collective campaign to shield our citizens and our communities from the menace of violent crimes,” Batalla added.
Free wheelchair distribution continues
Meanwhile, the Batalla Cares Foundation continues with its mission of providing free wheelchairs to indigents and disabled members of the various communities in Batangas.
As part of CCW event, 50 wheelchairs were provided by Batalla Cares to the pre-identified beneficiaries.
Carlo Batalla, founder of Batalla Cares, noted the wheelchairs forms part of the growing number of wheelchairs he has distributed all over the country as part of his advocacy to provide comfort and mobility to physically handicapped Filipinos.
Batalla noted that since starting this advocacy in 2017, he has managed to distribute more than 150,000 wheelchairs with majority of beneficiaries situated in remote parts of the country who are too poor to buy a wheelchair.
