THE Ninoy Aquino Collection District under Collector Yasmin Mapa, started implementing the instruction of Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio to condemn smuggled vape products as a matter of policy with the incineration of 159,830 pieces of vape products worth P34.12 million at a disposal facility in Cavite.

In a report to Comm. Rubio, Mapa said the condemnation was done in two phases, on January 17 and January 20, in coordination between the Auction and Cargo Disposal Division (ACDD), the Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) and the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS).

Mapa said the products were earlier forfeited thru the issuance of an WSD (warrant of seizure and detention) for violation of RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act) and RA 11900 the law regulating vape and non-nicotine products as implemented under DAO (Department Administrative Order) 22-16 of the Department of Trade and Industry.

“This condemnation underscores our commitment to protect public health and ensure compliance with our laws,” the customs chief said in a brief statement.
