‘Ecstasy,’ shabu, seized at Clark
THE Port of Clark headed by District Collector Jairus Reyes, announced the seizure of thousands of tablets of ‘Ecstasy’ commonly referred to by users as a ‘party drug’ and nearly a kilo of shabu in two separate successful interdiction operations in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
In a statement on April 9, Reyes said the 4,491 tablets of Ecstasy from Brussels, Belgium bound for Quezon City, Metro Manila and worth P7.64 million, were hidden in boxes of gummy candies and Belgian waffle biscuits.
In another statement on April 14, the BOC Public Information and Assistance Division (PIAD) quoted Reyes as saying that the shabu, weighing 994 grams and worth P6.759 million that came from Bujumbura, East Africa bound for Cavite, Southern Tagalog, were found hidden inside a shipment of four packages of metal wheel bearings.
No information was provided as to the identity of the senders and consignees of the apprehended illegal drugs or if any arrest was made by the authorities.
