THE Bureau of Customs under Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, announced the seizure of high grade marijuana or “Kush” hidden inside a shipment of garments worth P1.572 million.

In a statement on October 11, the agency said the 1.48 kilos of the contraband was detected by members of the X-Ray Inspection Project (XIP) stationed at the Port of Clark.

The shipment was declared as “Men’s Track Suit, Polyester Men’s Cotton Shorts” and was flagged for examination by the XIP “after unusual images were detected.”

A K-9 sniff test also indicated the presence of illegal substances that was confirmed during the conduct of actual physical examination.

The statement did not include where the shipment came from, when it actually arrived or the name of the recipient.

The apprehension came amidst a similar seizure of 2.56 kilos of Kush worth over P3 million by customs authorities last October 14 also thru the effort of the XIP.

Port of Clark district collector Jairus Reyes commended his team for their precise profiling and scanning efforts, which led to the successful seizures.
