THE continued vigilance of the NAIA Collection District under Collector Atty. Yasmin O. Mapa, resulted to the seizure of more illegal drugs with the advent of the Christmas season totaling more than P76 million.

In a report to Bureau of Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Ruiz, Mapa said the biggest of their seizure for the month of December consisted of 9.276 kilos of shabu worth over P63 million found from a baggage of a national from Zambia last December 17.

Several parcels sent from various countries containing high-grade (Kush) marijuana and ‘Ecstasy’ tablets with an estimated street value of P12.997 million was also intercepted at the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay City last December 5, Mapa added.

Last December 10, Mapa said yet another shipment of over 1 kilo of Kush valued at P1.4 million was also intercepted at the CMEC inside a parcel declared as containing “clothes” from Thailand.

Mapa said a claimant, whom she did not identify, was also arrested.
