PTFoMS joins Davao del Norte Information Officers Meeting

PRESIDENTIAL Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) Executive Director Usec. Paul M. Gutierrez, was the Guest Speaker during the Monthly Meeting and Learning Session of the Information Officers Network (ION) coming from various government agencies from the entire province of Davao del Norte held last March 21, 2024, at the Bulwagan ng Lalawigan, Provincial Government Center, Tagum City.

Gutierrez centered his talk on the ‘Journalist’s Code of Ethics’ to emphasize to the participants the importance of ethical and responsible journalism, and cited specific examples and clarified some issues raised during the open forum.

PTFoMS Chief of Staff Atty. Hue Jyro Go, for his part, discussed the importance of Administrative Order (AO) No. 1, series of 2016 that created the PTFoMS as the government’s official mechanism to address all violence against the life, liberty, and security of all members of the media and the various mechanisms adopted by the task force to address them.

Gutierrez also thanked the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte headed by Gov. Edwin Jubahib for supporting the activities of the ION in the dissemination of accurate, relevant, and timely information to the public and the government’s various initiatives towards good governance at the local, provincial, and national levels.

Gutierrez also credited the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) for help in organizing the event and the local media for their presence and active participation during the open forum including the Mindanao Independent Press Council (MIPC) thru its president, Edith Caduaya.
