SENATE PRO TEMPORE Jinggoy Estrada, expressed concern over the dismissal of the ‘acts of lasciviousness’ case filed by young actor, Sandro Muhlach, against two independent contractors of GMA-7, alleging the dismissal was based on a “mere technicality.”
?Naninindigan ako para sa mga biktima ng pang-aabuso, hindi lamang ng mga taga-industriya sa telebisyon at pelikula na kinabibilangan ko.
“Nasabi ko na ito noon at uulitin ko, hinding-hindi ko kukunsintihin ang pang-aabuso ng may kapangyarihan sa industriya,” said Jinggoy, who initiated a Senate inquiry on the sexual assault against Muhlach last year, weeks after his ordeal in the hands of Jojo Tawasil Nones and Richard Dode Cruz.
That hearing held on August 12, 2024, established there is strong evidence” to criminally charge Nones and Cruz.
Aside from acts of lasciviousness, a panel from the Department of Justice (DOJ) established the accused should also be sued for rape (Pinoy Exposé, November 1, 2024).
Jinggoy also expressed confidence that the dismissal of the complaint “does not, in any way, diminish the gravity of a more serious charges, rape case, he filed which is pending before a separate court in Pasay.”
“As the legal proceedings continue, I urge all parties to allow the courts to decide fairly and impartially. I remain hopeful that justice will eventually be served,” said Jinggoy, himself a multi-awarded film actor.
