THE Ukraine War did not start in February 2022, it started when the U.S. staged what has come to be known as the “Maidan Coup” in February 2014, ousting elected Ukraine President Viktor Yanukovych who espoused neutrality for Ukraine, balancing between the E.U. and Russia. Infamous U.S. State Department arch-warmonger and, until recently, U.S. Department of State undersecretary for political affairs Victoria Nuland famously distributed cookies during the Maidan Coup demonstrations.
Russia under President Putin had been preparing for a conflict with Ukraine even earlier than 2014, 2008 to be exact, when his appeal against the expansion of NATO towards Russia fell on deaf ears again.
The 2014 Maidan Coup was a clear and indelible act of aggression by the West against the sovereign country and people of Ukraine of whom a vast number were literally Russians. This triggered Russia’s final decision to prepare for war in the puppet Ukraine against the U.S. and NATO.
From 2014 onwards the U.S. had been preparing Ukraine for a final assault on Russia, prepping a neo-Nazi fascist force, corrupting more politicians, suppressing independent and conscientious leaders, training and equipping the regular Ukrainian army.
All the while the U.S. and NATO were playing Russia for a fool, negotiating pacts such as the Minsk I and II Accords for supposed peace arrangements that former German chancellor Angela Merkel later admitted they had no intention of fulfilling.
There are dark clouds of war preparations also hovering over the Philippines and the South China Sea that started to gather last February 2023.
It also started in February, when Pres. Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Jr. or Bongbong Marcos twisted his foreign policy from the one he inherited from President Rodrigo R. Duterte that is consistent with the “independent foreign policy” mandated by the Constitution– to a “pirouette to American hegemony.”
That pirouette is a total reversal of his policy record while a senator and a candidate for the presidency, a betrayal of his political alliance with the Duterte political movement that propelled him into the presidency in the 2022 national elections.
That is why some military officers just following the orders from the current president who has gone back on everything he stood for originally have grounds to rethink their allegiance to the person and reflect upon the principles and policies violated.
That February in 2023 was, in a way, a “coup” perpetrated by the Americans against the Republic of the Philippines by turning just one person against his original political personhood as heir to two genuinely independent presidents, Marcos Sr. and Duterte, and betraying the very foundation of the Republic that the Katipunan revolution established in its anti-colonial crusade, anti-Spanish and anti-US struggles.
The coup was accomplished through enticement and blackmail on a president now being viewed as “weak.”
From February 2024 on the Philippines has deteriorated from one where immensely benefitting relations with China, such as huge direct economic benefits from China (see Manila Times: https://www.manilatimes.net/2024/04/22/news/national/china-aid-highest-under-duterte-data-show/1942692 ) and Russia, which could provide us with cheap crucial commodities like gas and wheat to us to help us in our current economic crisis.
Bongbong Marcos abandoned perfectly beneficial economic relations, trading it for military bases, military hardware spending, provocative deployment of U.S. mid-range missiles, while the nation is feeling crushed by high inflation, corruption and criminality all of which constitutes a full 96 percent of the Filipino public’s concern; only 4 percent is concerned with the so-called territorial threat posed by China – according to the April 2024 Octa survey report.
Over the months an even more macabre unfolding is becoming visible slowly and surely, creeping in so stealthily and insidiously that the public can’t put its fingers on it.
That macabre creep is fascism, “… far-right, authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy, subordination of individual interests for the perceived good …”
The US-BBM fascist apparatus first raised the specter of “traitors,” tagging writers and intellectuals presenting accurate information and perspectives on South China Sea issues, siccing the ICC on the Dutertes, demonizing the alternative media like SMNI and actually suppressing it and its news and talk shows hosts, systematically pulling broadcast shows out like Pugad Blogger on DZRJ and many such instances and now, suspending elected independent political leaders like Gov. Jubahib and Mamba.
When you try to take a distant perspective of what is happening to the Philippines the similarity to Ukraine and to the frog on a piece of ice in a lighted frying pan:
The frog sits coolly on the small block of ice in the frying pan, unaware and unwary of the melting ice underneath slowly oozing away and soon, it will feel the heat when it is too late and it starts frying.
That is what Ukraine Pres. Zelensky is facing now, that’s what Bongbong Marcos will face in a year or two.
