76TH ‘Malasakit Center’ Inaugurated in Cabanatuan
The newly-opened center is the second in the province and the 38TH in Luzon Island
SENATOR Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, virtually attended the launch of the country’s 76th ‘Malasakit Center’ at the Dr. Paulino J. Garcia Memorial Research and Medical Center in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija. The newly-opened center is the second in the province and the 38TH in Luzon Island.
“Patuloy po ang serbisyo ng Malasakit Centers para mabigyan ng mabilis, maayos at maaasahang serbisyong medikal ang mga Pilipino kahit saan mang parte ng bansa.
“Lalo na sa panahon ng pandemya, hindi dapat maantala ang pagbubukas ng dagdag na Malasakit Centers,” Go said in his message via ‘Zoom’ platform.
The Malasakit Center is a “one-stop,” medical and financial assistance center, focused on attending to the needs of the poor.
Filipinos who need medical and financial assistance to cover their hospital bills would only need to fill up one form as a way to streamline the process of availing such assistance from partner agencies. A special lane is also provided specifically for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Concerned agencies extending medical and financial assistance programs that are housed in these centers are the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.
Thru Go’s effort, RA 11463 was passed last year mandating for all hospitals run by the Department of Health (DOH) and, the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) to establish their own Malasakit Centers.
Patients admitted to LGU-run and other public hospitals but are eligible for medical and financial assistance could also seek help from the Malasakit Centers.
