Another CTG leader killed in armed clash
ANOTHER ranking leader of the communist terrorist group (CTG) operating in Zambonga del Sur was killed during a combat operation initiated by elements from the 53rd Infantry Battalion, 102nd Infantry ‘Igsoon’ Brigade, 1st Infantry ‘Tabak’ Division, Philippine Army, last February 27, 2024.
Lt. Col. Terrence Ylanan, 53rd IB chief, said the encounter in the vicinity of Bgy. Malagalad, Dumingag, ZDS, resulted to the death of Aprecia ‘Ka Bambam’ Alvarez Rosete, who hails from Agusan del Sur and has been tagged as the regional head of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee of the Communist Party of the Philippines (WMRPC) prior to her neutralization. Rosete, Ylanan noted, has over 30 pending warrants for her arrest over an assortment of criminal activities.
The encounter also resulted to the confiscation of significant items, including an AK47 with two magazines, a caliber .45 pistol with one magazine, and personal belongings belonging to the deceased CTG leader.
Lt. Gen. William N. Gonzales, commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), commended the Tabak Division under M/Gen. Gabriel C. Viray III and the 102nd Brigade under
Brig. Gen. Elmer B. Suderio, “for their relentless efforts in bringing justice and peace to the region.”
The military averred that the neutralization of Rosete would hasten the collapse of the WMRPC and paved the way towards stabilizing the peace and order situation not only in the Zamboanga Peninsula but also in nearby Misamis Occidental.
The death of Rosete came just 4 days after the military also announced the death of Domingo ‘Ka Silong’ Jaspe Compoc, leader of the remnants of the CPP Bohol Party Committee, or last February 23, 2024.
Killed along with Compoc are four others that include Atty. Hannah Joy Cesista, who just passed the 2023 bar examination (see related article here).
