AN erroneous report filed by a reporter of The Daily Tribune caused consternation at the Manila City Hall and in the ranks of the members of the press covering the premier news beat after it claimed they tested positive for ‘Covid-19.’

Although the report, ‘News photographers get the virus’ and dated June 24, 2020, was taken down later at the newspaper’s online news site, it still generated a long thread at Facebook.

The reactions came from the 26 reporters and photojournalists (not 29, as reported) who were actually present during the test done at the Manila City Hall last Monday, June 22, 2020. The result, which they received some two hours later, showed all of them negative for the virus.

The remarks mostly focused on the “fear” that the erroneous report could affect their work and their families and the possible negative impact on the business and operation of Manila City Hall. Others expressed concern for the health and safety of Manila officials, especially, Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso.

The Daily Tribune is also expected to issue an apology and an ‘erratum’ over the mistake.
