NIA chief warns versus bogus FB account
BOC alerts public on latest FB scam
NATIONAL Irrigation Administration (NIA) administrator, General Ricardo Visaya, has warned the public to “be careful” after a still unidentified person created another Facebook account bearing the profile picture of his original account and then started soliciting money from those who innocently ‘accepted’ the fake account’s friend’s request.
“Please be careful. Somebody created an FB account using my nae and the same pictures as my own FB account,” said Visaya, also a former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
“He/she created this account yesterday, September 27, 2021, and is asking for help like paying (for) an RT/PCR test.
“Please don’t befriend this and block this account instead.
“I have changed the pictures in my real FB account,” added the bemedaled and former Armed Forces Chief of Staff, in additional warning to the public and his social media friends.
At the Bureau of Customs, another former AFP chief of staff, Comm. Rey Leonardo Guerrero, also warned the public about an FB post claiming it has been “entrusted” by the Bureau of Customs “to sell a batch of smuggled goods seized in the first half of 2021 at a very low price.”
Guerrero, in a message to Pinoy Exposé, said he has already instructed the Intelligence Group to coordinate with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in order to track down and arrest those behind the post, a certain ‘Olguopic-UK.’
