SBG now says he is still ‘not interested’ becoming president
Despite Pres. Duterte now agreeing to be his running mate
SENATOR Christopher ‘Bong’ Go now maintains he is still not interested in running for president, despite Pres. Rodrigo Duterte now agreeing to be his running mate.
In a short statement released by his office today, August 24, 2021, the popular lawmaker said:
“I am still not interested.
“Nakatutok ako sa aking tungkulin bilang Senador upang tulungan ang bansa na malampasan ang krisis na ating hinaharap. Bakuna muna bago pulitika.
“Mas mabuti unahin niyo na muna yung mga interesado na tumakbong Pangulo.”
The above did not deviate from Go’s earlier stand that he is not a “threat” to other presidential aspirants and that his partymates at the PDP-Laban should first consider other personalities as their standard bearer before choosing him.
Go had also declared that the only way he would accept the party’s endorsement for him to run as president is if Pres. Duterte would agree to be his running mate.
And President Duterte just made that decision on Monday, August 23, 2021, according to Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles.
