Jinggoy request for prayers as Erap’s condition takes turn for the worse
FORMER senator Jinggoy Estrada on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, asked for more prayers from their supporters and the public after the medical condition of his father, former Philippine president and Manila mayor, Joseph ‘Erap’ Estrada, suddenly takes a turn for the worse.
In a second medical bulletin Jinggoy posted at his social media account, he said that Erap’s condition on Monday, April 5, 2021, “suffered a setback as his pneumonia worsened,” forcing his attending doctors to place him on mechanical ventilation to help him breath easier.
(Editor’s Update: The hospital where Erap is presently confined has been deleted as the information, according to Jinggoy, is erroneous, in a call to Pinoy Exposé).
“My father has always been a fighter and I hope that with the help of your prayers he will win this battle.
“Pls continue praying for his immediate recovery,” Jinggoy said.
Jinggoy brought Erap to the hospital last March 28, after complaining of shortness of breath. He was later on diagnosed of contracting Covid-19.
2ND MEDICAL BULLETIN OF FMR. PRES. JOSEPH EJERCITO ESTRADA (April 6, 2021):
Yesterday, my father’s condition suffered a setback as his pneumonia worsened.
Because of this and the resulting increase in oxygen requirement, his doctors decided to place him on mechanical ventilation.
This was done to improve oxygen delivery as well as to prevent the tiring of his respiratory mechanism.
My father has always been a fighter and I hope that with the help of your prayers he will win this battle.
Pls continue praying for his immediate recovery.
Thank you very much.
Luckily, Jinggoy said that his own test and that of his mother, former first lady and senator, Dr. Loi, proved negative.
On March 30, 2021, Erap was strong enough to make a short video message to the public and thank them for their prayers and support.
On his first medical bulletin on Erap’s condition last Sunday, April 4, 2021, Jinggoy said his father was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) for “closer observation,” adding Erap remains in “stable but guarded condition.”
In a brief telephone discussion with Pinoy Exposé, Jinggoy assured that Erap is “doing fine” and on his way to complete recovery.
Erap is to celebrate his 84th birthday this coming April 19, 2021.
