Panibagong fertilizer scam sa DA, sumingaw

MANILA– Nakatakdang talupan ni Senator Cynthia Villar ang panibagong fertilizer scam o natuklasang overpriced na fertilizer contract sa Department of Agriculture (DA) habang nasa gitna ng paglaban ang pamahalaan sa coronavirus disease o COVID-19.

Sa pahayag, sinabi ni Villar na ipatatawag niya ang lahat ng agricultural stakeholders sa pagbukas ng sesyon ng Senado sa huling Lunes ng Hulyo para sa ikalawang regular session ng 18th Congress.

Aniya, nakatakdang maghain ng isang panukalang resolusyon ang Senate committee on agriculture and food na kanyang pinamumunuan upang magkaroon ng basehan ang komite sa imbestigasyon.

“I will look into the issue but I have to file a Senate resolution first in order to schedule an inquiry or investigation. Congress is in recess right now and will resume on the third week of July. So I would have to wait till then,” giit ng mambabatas.

Sinabi ni Villar na habang wala pang imbestigasyon ang Senado, pinayuhan niya ang mga agricultural groups at farmers cooperative na maghain ng reklamo sa Department of Justice (DOJ) upang maimbestigahan ang anomalya at makasuhan ang mga dapat kasuhan.

“For the meantime, the agri groups and farmers can bring their concern or complaints to the State Prosecutor at the Department of Justice (DoJ),” ayon kay Villar.

Tiniyak ng senadora na kapag nagbukas na ang sesyon ng Senado, bibigyan niya ng prayoridad ang imbestigasyon sa anomalya upang mapanagot ang mga sangkot dito.

“Once the Senate opens, we will of course, look at all the sides to this issue. We have to ensure that the funds made available by the government to help our countrymen cope with the ongoing pandemic are being used for their intended purpose and beneficiaries, particularly the farmers,” ayon sa mambabatas.
