ONE cannot think of any other political party in history that has made outstanding and positive mark in Mankind’s history as the Communist Party of China (CPC). It has done so for the following reasons and it is vital for the Philippines and Filipinos to learn and understand.
First, the CPC struggled long and hard during its fledgling years, almost verging on being wiped out by its foes but survived and won with unflagging spirit, unerring ideological accuracy, deft political-military strategy and tactics, and most of all, an unfailing dedication to its fight for the emancipation of the people of both China and the world.
Secondly, that the CPC is consistent in the faith in a secular millenarianism described as the “emancipation” above – the “Internationale” where not only the people of China but all of mankind shall be liberated: “Masses, slaves, arise, arise; the world is about to change its foundations….” Hence the 1955 Bandung Conference and now “The Community of Shared Future for Mankind”.
Thirdly, it is successfully ending the 500-years era of Western colonialism and ushering in a new age of global communitarianism (meaning all for one and one for all, all nations for each nation and each for all) through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) where developing nations finally find the means for economic liberation and equality with the developed world, and through multilateralism and the Multi-Polar World.
It has taken, and will take more time, for the rest of the world and even among my colleagues to discern this exciting dawn, a new age of humanity, but this is where the CPC is taking the seven-an-a-half billion population of the Earth.
The information environment the West has imposed on the rest of us has been based on still feudal and neo-capitalist misconceptions of the relationships of Man-to-Man.
China has demonstrated that there is no one and single path toward “The End of History” and China’s “scientific socialism with Chinese characteristics” teaches all developing nations to find their individual and unique paths to development and growth.
Socialism is actually the unspoken universal ideal that the West and even the U.S. aspires to – adapting its name to social democracy or adopting social security programs to approximate it.
The key to China and the CPC’s inevitable success in beneficently achieving the “utopian” ideal for and with Mankind is its approach of engaging in “Win-Win” economic and diplomatic relations with all nations.
The error of past propositions and efforts to unite parts of the whole of the world is doing so with force and impositions instead of cooperation, dialogue and negotiations – processes China and the CPC are extremely good at.
The political and moral victories of the CPC and China’s peaceful rise has been a boon to Asia and ASEAN, and to the rest of the world.
The CPC’s moral sincerity shines through especially in human history’s once-in-a-hundred years COVID-19 pandemic: China’s entire response was morally directed, announcing its vaccines as “global public good,” donating and delivering vaccines worldwide – while the West quibbles about patents and profits.
Beyond the pandemic we can take an overview of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and its accompanying financial support base the AIIB (Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank) that has made the development dreams of Third World countries come true:
Africa-to-the-rest-of-the-World trade routes that used to take nine months cut to a week, economic corridors through South Asian land masses, ports turning sleepy fishing villages into global trade hubs.
China’s vision of humanity stretches out to outer space as China’s space program is the only one today that aims at economic benefit and long-term investment such as mineral mining of the moon for Earth industries hence its willingness to invest long-term, while the U.S. efforts in space are aimed at short term superiority symbolisms, profit from space tourism as well as the regular earthbound surveillance and monitoring operation.
The above view was highlighted by the British newspaper the Telegraph as expressed by
Dr. Namrata Goswami, Indian Strategic Analyst and author, and independent scholar on space policy and great power politics.
The U.S.-led International Space Station is on its last few years of extended operation up to 2028, beyond that only China’s Tiangong space station will be the only long-term presence of mankind in outer space.
It is rare to find a nation with the resources and geopolitical significance to set a visionary goal not only for itself but also for all mankind.
The world was let down by the West’s promise of “Peace on Earth, Goodwill to All Men” in its Christmas carols but oppressed the world instead.
China under the ideological leaders of the CPC seems to be fulfilling that vision. Distrustful Filipinos may be skeptical – but the vision is unfolding before our very eyes.
